We got back last night from a very short trip to Las Vegas. Overall it was a lot of fun, although I did eat a lot of bad food (when it says �all-you-can-eat buffet� I will rise to the challenge, despite the mediocrity of the offerings). I�ll write more about it later, but for now I�ll just say that I can�t really suspend disbelief enough to think the Vegas dream of hitting the jackpot will happen to me.
We did see the lions at the MGM Grand and the fountain ballet thing at the Bellagio and the lights on the Strip and the depression of Downtown, where we stayed. We went to an exceptionally low-down topless club right off the casinos of Fremont Street. We saw �Avenue Q�, the musical piss-take on Sesame Street where Gary Coleman is a landlord and some of the puppets really are gay. We had a romantic dinner at Circo, Le Cirque�s sister restaurant.
Speaking of dinner. Tonight I�m taking Nya to a fancy restaurant that serves sort of science-fiction cuisine like prosciutto cotton candy and vaporized squash (as Jake put it: �That sounds like the geekiest thing I�ve ever heard of!�). There�s a fixed tastings menu with like ten courses. With each course, I�m going to give her a Valentine�s card with a different reason I love her. After the last card, I�m going to do that thing. You know, with the ring. Yes. I�m more sure of this than I�ve ever been about anything.
Shhh. She obviously doesn�t know yet. Please wish me luck. I�ll tell you how it goes.
